Parr and Viox Make Top 150 List

On Tuesday, May 15th Top Drawer Soccer published its' first "National List of Players to Watch" for the 2016 class.  Two SLSG Metro U14 Pre-Academy players were named to the prestigious list, David Viox (#110) and Zach Parr (#138).

Viox, a central midfield player from Webster Groves, Missouri, is in his first year with the club and currently plays on the 14 Pre-Academy team although this spring he has appeared with the 15 Pre-Academy in National Premier League play versus Sporting BVSC as well having 3 appearances with the SLSG Metro U16 US Development Academy in matches versus the Chicago Fire, Minnesota Thunder and Real Colorado. According to SLSG Metro Pre-Academy Director, Blake Decker, "David is a creative, dynamic and insightful player whose ability to run with the ball and execute in 1v1 situations is very well developed.  His skill and insight with the ball are only rivaled by his intense determination to compete both on the training ground and in matches."

Zach Parr, a striker who hails from Lick Creek, Illinois is in his 3rd year with the club and was a member of the original SLSG Metro Pre-Academy team in 2009 where he played up 2 years as a U12 on a U14 team.  Parr was a member of the SLSG Metro US Club National Championship team last year and is currently a Developmental Player with the SLSG Metro U16 US Development Academy team.  "Zach's quality in front of the goal is phenomenal.  During his time with the club, he has consistently been a top scorer on each team on which he has played even when playing against players who are 1-2 years older than him.  Because he has played against bigger, faster, stronger and older, Zach has had to figure out how to score goals, not by just running past players, but by being technically cleaner and more intelligent than his opponents", commented Decker.

Both Parr and Viox will be full-time players with the SLSG Metro U16 Academy in 2012-2013 season.  According to SLSG Metro Technical Director, Dale Schilly, "The 10-month Academy season could not have come at a better time for David and Zach.   Players, such as these two young men, who possess superior technical quality, advanced insights and immense potential need to be in a challenging and stimulating environment year round in order to continuously push them technically, tactically, physically and psychologically.  We are thrilled to have David and Zach in next years' 16 Academy team and look forward to working with each of them on their path toward achieving their maximum potential as young soccer players."

The inclusion of Parr and Viox in the top 150 list continues a trend of increased national recognition of young SLSG Metro players over the past two years.  Since November of 2010, 4 SLSG Metro players (Clayton Pearson, Jordan Blasingame, William Showers and Orlando Arreola) have been selected to attend US Club ID2 camps in Texas and North Carolina.  The recognition of each of these players is a testament not only to their talent, but more importantly to the time and hard work they have committed over the years to developing their ability as players.
