U13 and U14 Boys Compete at Nationals

Coach Hewitt's u13 Boys and Coach Deckers U14 Boys enter the final day of the US Club National Championship both with a chance to advance to the National Semi finals.

The 13 Boys are a tie and a loss headed into the final game of the opening round. In game 1 vs the Heat from Alaska the boys fought to a 0-0 tie. Ian Bender recorded the shutout. In game two the boys from Illinois fell to Barcelona from Central Florida, 1-2 despite a goal from Clayton Pearson. Two early goals proved to be two much as SLSG Metro battled to pull back with a tying goal but they just ran out of time.

In Sunday's 3rd game of the opening round, Coach Hewitt's team will need a shutout, a number of goals and some help to advance to the semifinal. The opponent will be Arsenal a perennial power and US Soccer Academy brethren.

Coach Decker's 14 Boys head into the Day 3 with a perfect record earning 6 points in two games. In game one, SLSG Metro beat the Hawaii Rush 2-0 on goals by Donald Link and Zack Parr. On day two the boys beat Olimpica from Northern California 3-2. Brentson Wolf and Anthony Brown(2) scored to lead Coach Decker's team to the top of the group.

A win or a tie in game 3 vs Ironbound, NJ will lead SLSG Metro into the National Semifinals to be played Sunday afternoon in Boise, ID.
