High School Girls Season Draws to an End


The end of February marks the end of the High School Girls club season. The 2010 SLSG Metro high school girls program had one of its most successful campaigns to date.

U18 Girls – The U18 girls had another banner season. The girls went undefeated in the College Search Kickoff, GSI Showcase, and the GIT Showcase. They lost in the final of the SLSG Metro Fall Classic. The 18 Girls will enter into State Cup in June as one of the seeded teams. There are a couple of girls making their final decisions on their college choices. The girls’ and their college selections are listed below.

U17 Girls – In one of the most dramatic turnarounds in club history, the U17 girls took huge strides in becoming a regionally competitive team. After a disappointing run in 2009, the girls turned in a remarkable 2010 fall season. The girls finished first in the SLSG Labor Day Friendlies, GSI Showcase in Kansas City and the GIT in Memphis. More importantly, college coaches from across the country are reaching out expressing interest. The 17 Girls enter into State Cup as a seeded team.

U16 Girls – The 16 Girls had one of the most successful seasons in the history of the girls program. The girls won the MRL 1st Division thus earning promotion into the MRL Premier Division. The girls went undefeated in the Overland Park Summer Showcase, finished first in the group at Labor Day Friendlies, GSI and Showcase of the South. The 16 Girls are also attracting interest from universities across the country. The 16 Girls will enter State Cup as a seeded team.

U15 Girls – The 15 Girls did well this fall Season as they have maintained their status in the MRL First Division. As such they are poised to make the jump into the MRL Premier Division with a successful 2011 season. The fall session was highlighted with a 1-0 win over State Cup Finalist Strikers FV. The 15 Girls enter State Cup as a seeded team.
