The spring is a hectic time, but here are some quick through balls-
Congratulations to the U12Girls and Coach Toby and Coach Jeff for winning the Emerald Cup in Overland Park. The girls went 3-0 in group play and won on PKs in the final. I was fortunate to see the Saturday games and the girls played very well. Congratulations girls!
The Boys College Showcase came off without a hitch. 150 teams and nearly 100 coaches with Academy games as well, what a great weekend. Many doors were opened for for a lot of High School age boys and hopefully their dream of playing college soccer will be fulfilled. Thank you to Mr. Augustin and Mrs. Freemont from the U17 Blue team for organizing the College Coaches Hospitality Area.
This weekend we welcome 258 teams from around the Midwest to the "Spring Classic." Nearly 15,000 people will descend on 33 fields in the Metro East. 125 referees will reside over roughly 5,000 players and officiate some 800 games. Families from out of town will sleep in about 1000 hotel rooms Friday and 1000 hotel rooms Saturday night. The whole event will be orchestrated by 250 volunteers who will work the event as concessionaires, field marshalls, field preparation, parking attendants and site directors. Thank you to all for helping make this happen.
